I know I haven't blogged much in the last three months, and I am so sorry! I had quite the busy summer with my three kiddos, lots of house guests, and life in general. But I'm back and I hope you'll stick with me. I may still not blog everyday, but I'll try to post as often as possible. I still love coupons and deals!

$1 Movies at Regal Cinemas!

I LOVE summer and having my kiddos home all day, BUT I am always looking for fun and CHEAP ideas to keep them entertained! This year I've made a conscience decision to do something fun with them everyday, even if it's just something little like a walk thru our neighborhood.

So, my point to all my rambling is that this morning I took the kids to our local Regal Cinemas for a morning movie! And the best part is, I only spent $3 for us to get in! We saw How to Train Your Dragon, and we all loved it. Select Regal theaters are having these $1 movies all summer long every Tuesday and Wednesday at 10 am.

How to Have a Successful Garage Sale

If you know me at all, you know I LOVE to garage sale! I just love the thrill of the hunt AND the bargain!

I even held my own sale a few weeks ago with a couple of my friends. I try to have one about once a year to clear out my house and earn a bit of extra cash.

Here are my tips and tricks I've learned over the years to help have a successful garage sale:

Prep, prep, prep! I prepare my things I'm planning on selling in advance and put them all in one place in my house. I go thru one room at a time with a bag or a box and weed out everything I don't need anymore. I also make my kids go thru their things (then I go after them and weed out more)
Tag EVERYTHING! I tag EVERYTHING individually with clearly and brightly colored price tags. I know people do it differently, but for me, I like to have each piece clearly marked so people aren't left to question my price.
Organize your items into categories: When I'm tagging my items I start to organize them by category so I can group everything similar together. That way people will hopefully buy more!
Pick a great day/weekend to have the sale. Around here, Fridays seem to be the best day to have a sale. Moms drop their kiddos off to school then head to the sales! And everyone else is out shopping too!
Be prepared. Make sure you have bright signs with your address and times and ARROWS leading people to your house. Also make sure you are ready for customers when you state you will be opening.
Make it easy to shop. I always make sure to have plenty of tables and space to display everything I'm selling.
Let the kids join in with a lemonade/juice stand. My kids love to sell lemonade and make a little cash. I also love how it entertains them!
Advertise on Craigslist. Put out an ad the night before with all the vital information. This includes dates, times, your address, and things you'll be selling. A lot of people look for specific things, so if you have them, they will be more likely to stop buy
Have a sale during your neighborhood's sale or when others around are having a sale. If your neighborhood doesn't have an annual sale then invite friends to join your sale. That way you'll have more of a variety AND you can call it a "multi-family" sale. The more stuff you have the better.
IF you have multiple people selling stuff, figure out a system to keep your earnings straight. My friends and I just label our stuff with our initial and keep our sales on separate pieces of paper.
